  • CENTIEL UK Ltd, the UK subsidiary of Swiss-based UPS manufacturer, CENTIEL SA, has launched new 25kW and 60kW UPS modules for its pioneering 4th Generation Modular UPS system: CumulusPower. This industry leading three-phase, modular system offers 99.9999999% (“9 nines”) system availability with low total cost of ownership and now with 20% more power density. These new modules complete the family which also includes: 10kW, 20kW and 50kW options, offering the ultimate in UPS flexibility.

“Real estate is expensive and so datacenters need to save space where they can,” confirms Mike Elms, sales and marketing director, CENTIEL UK Ltd. “In addition, more space and racks in a facility can in turn, potentially generate revenue for the operation. Therefore, a UPS which provides the most power, using the smallest footprint possible is a valuable asset.

“The new 25kW and 60kW versions of CumulusPower have all the benefits of our existing industry leading Modular UPS but now offer yet more power in the same the same footprint. Unlike traditional multi-module systems, the CumulusPower technology combines a unique Intelligent Module Technology (IMT), with a fault-tolerant parallel Distributed Active Redundant Architecture (DARA), to remove single points of failure and offer industry leading availability.

“9 nines system availability is achieved through fully independent and self-isolating intelligent UPS modules – each with individual rectifiers, inverters, static bypass, CPU and communications logic and display,” explains Elms. “In the unlikely event of a module failure, the module can be quickly and safely “hot-swapped” without transferring the load to bypass and raw mains.

“In addition, CumulusPower has been designed to reduce the total cost of ownership through low losses,” confirms Elms. “The high double conversion efficiency of 97% at the module level means it is currently the best solution available to protect data centre infrastructure as its configuration also reduces downtime risk, avoiding costly errors as well as increasing energy efficiency.”

CENTIEL UK Ltd’s UK-wide team of engineers support a significant customer base with a range of maintenance contracts: from fully comprehensive to maintenance and emergency call out only. Mike Elms continues: “Our engineers are on call 24/7, but like our clients, we prefer to avoid emergencies! It is therefore in our interests to provide the highest quality UPS solutions possible and so we are delighted to introduce the new 25kW and 60kW UPS module versions of CumulusPower now offering the ultimate in power protection to our valued client base.”

  • SyCool ITC offers data centre owners and operators an energy efficient indirect cooling solution without the need for water.

  • ExCel London 21 March 2018 - Innovations in data centre design, energy-efficiency and sustainability are being showcased at Data Centre World 2018 by engineering services led principal contractor, JCA, which has just delivered one of the UK’s most advanced data centres for its client, Kao Data.

  • Uninterruptible Power Supplies Limited (UPSL), a Kohler company, today launched the PowerWAVE 9250 DPA – the latest addition to its range of premium, highly efficient modular UPS products.

  • UPSL launches new high performance lithium-ion battery solution

21 Mar 2018 Uninterruptible Power Supplies

Uninterruptable Power Supplies Limited (UPSL), a Kohler Company, today announced the arrival of its new lithium-ion battery solution for UPS systems, providing a range of enhanced technical features and practical benefits for critical applications across the country.

  • EkkoSense (D1210), the UK-based data centre thermal software and services expert, has launched the world’s first Internet-of-Things (IoT) enabled wireless thermal sensor. The new ultra-low cost sensor disrupts the traditional data centre sensor cost model, enabling it to be deployed in such vast numbers that true real-time thermal management of critical facilities such as data centres now becomes realistic.

  • Whether planning a new or expanding an existing data centre, it is essential to source the safest, most flexible and cost-effective raised floor and over-head infrastructure. Making the right decision will define the strategy and operational life of the whole data centre, future proofing it for years to come. The use of an innovative load bearing ceiling solution will give data centre and facility managers the maximum flexibility to reconfigure their data centre infrastructure in accordance with ongoing requirements – by saving time, material and labour costs. Daxten will present the innovative Bergvik structural suspended ceiling solution at the Data Centre World 2018 exhibition being held at ExCel, London on the 21st and 22nd March (Stand D540). In addition the company will show innovative and efficient solutions for the distribution of power, the optimisation of the cooling infrastructure and comprehensive monitoring of the data centre.

  • To control and analyse information relating to the operation of a data centre is a must for data centre facility managers, who want to achieve balanced loads, exploit potential energy savings and create the perfect environment for IT equipment. However, in existing data centres the ability to gather this critical information is very often missing. Retrofitting is usually time-consuming, requiring lots of installation, cabling and configuration work. To make the situation worse, quite often different proprietary solutions are used for the monitoring of power, environmental conditions and leak detection. In addition, often the control of all monitoring units cannot be handled centrally by one joint management tool. Therefore, for all those who would like to avoid high labour costs and the difficulties and frustration in monitoring implementation, it is advisable to take a closer look at a comprehensive monitoring solution called Packet Power. It is based on wire-free radio technology and therefore requires no cabling or configuration work. The solution, which is availabe from Daxten, brings all the mentioned monitoring functions together on one single platform. It will be demonstrated on the Daxten stand (D540) at Data Centre World 2018, which is being held at ExCeL London on the 21st and 22nd March.

  • The data centre market has been under increasing pressure to achieve lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), where critical equipment such as UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) have come under the spotlight. • A bestseller gets a modern makeover

15 Mar 2018 nora flooring systems UK Ltd

norament grano shows off an updated colour rangenora systems’ rubber covering norament grano was launched on the market just about 30 years ago. With its characteristic granular pattern, it has been a mainstay of the norament series ever since. But even classic floorings get a bit outdated over time, and so over the years small changes have been made to the range. As of now, the rubber flooring features both a totally updated and modern colour palette and matching granulates that are more harmonious than before, with less contrast with the basic colour. Customers now have a total of 32 different colours to choose from in the standard range that achieve a delicate balance between the respective basic colour and complementary granular accents. norament grano is particularly popular for its unique durability that lasts for many years thanks to the flooring’s extremely dense and impervious surface. This is why norament grano can be found on factory floors all over the world – but planners, construction managers and users of public buildings, educational institutions and healthcare facilities also benefit greatly from the flooring’s outstanding resistance to wear and tear.

As DevOps Technical Lead at Virgin Atlantic, Martyn Coupland has two primary responsibilities. First, he is one of the subject matter experts for the airline’s Microsoft Azure platform and the subject matter expert for the Azure toolset which enables its DevOps program.

In addition to the technical legwork, Martyn also provides expertise “around the softer side of DevOps” - in other words, the people and process side of things: “As technology changes, people change and processes change. DevOps will always be here to ensure all three sit together and provide real value,” he explains. “This allows not just technology teams at Virgin Atlantic but other parts of the business to adopt DevOps methodologies.”

In August 2019, Russian media reports began to emerge that orphans were being brought to summer camps in Lithuania and taught to kill. The catch? The story wasn’t true – it was ‘fake news’. Although summer camps do exist in Lithuania (as they do the world over), the young attendees weren’t being taught warfare techniques.

Misinformation campaigns have long been used by hostile governments against enemies and competitors, yet in the past few years the problem of ‘fake news’ has grown dramatically in scale. Facilitated by social media, it’s easier than ever to spread lies and confusion online. But concerned citizens are starting to take a stand - and they’re using AI to help.
