Palco Delivers Bespoke Access Solution for Data Centre Project
)
Working closely with the project architect and key stakeholders, Palco developed a tailored design that not only met industry standards but also introduced innovative features that improved usability.
A key challenge in the project was ensuring safe and efficient access within the facility’s high traffic corridors. Standard downward opening panels often reduce clearance and can require considerable physical effort to operate, especially when handling heavy, bulky panels. To address this, Palco engineered a custom upward-opening access panel that allows operatives to push the panel open rather than pull, reducing strain and maximising available space in confined areas.
Designed for durability and compliance, the panel is insulated with 30mm RW3 Rockwool infill and sealed with neoprene for airtight performance. A telescopic friction stay was added for easy, controlled opening with a euro profile 3 point locking system to maximise security.
“This product progressed from concept to manufacturing, achieving class 2 air pressure certification and reaction to fire compliance, followed swiftly by approval and sign-off from the project architects”, said Chris Harrison, Managing Director at Palco. “By working closely with key project stakeholders, we deliver practical, cost-effective solutions that improve usability without compromising on safety or performance.”
With extensive experience in fire-rated, acoustic and airtight access solutions, Palco continues to support the data centre industry with bespoke solutions that integrate seamlessly into complex infrastructure projects. Palco’s solutions are fully tested and certified, listed on NBS, BimObject and BPIndex, and developed in collaboration with leading specifiers to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Palco will be exhibiting at stand DC397 at Data Centre World 2025 where industry professionals can learn more about their innovative access solutions.
