Hydraflex RDHX Silicone Hose Assemblies
)
The 2025 show will be a celebration for Hydraflex, with 15
years of supplying liquid cooling (LC) hoses for Data Centres. In 2010 the
company was approached by a UK based manufacturer of cooling solutions for DCs
who were looking to improve on the hose that was required for their rear door
heat exchangers (RDHX). Due to the movement of a door, it required a hose that
was extremely flexible, durable, and capable of working under positive and
negative pressures.
From this initial challenge, the DataCool silicone hose was
born and is currently in use on RDHXs in DCs of all sizes, including those
powering the current surge in AI demand. With each hose assembly factory made
with hydraulically swaged end fittings, 100% pressure tested and individually
marked for full traceability.
RDHX Hose Assemblies
These silicone assemblies bring several benefits against a
traditional EPDM rubber hose which do not offer the same performance. The
DataCool hoses have excellent flexibility – lateral and torsion (twisting), suitable
for positive and negative pressures, working temperature up to 230°C (446°F) with
an ignition temperature of 450°C (842°F).
Over these years the hose has been under constant
development to meet the requirements of ever evolving systems. Initially a ¾” (DN20)
bore was deemed sufficient but as power demand increased greater cooling capacity
was required and so were larger bore hoses, which resulted in additional bores
of 1” (DN25) and 1 ¼” (DN32) being added to the range. In addition to the
standard compound a fire-retardant version is also available, but if a system
reaches the standard hose ignition temperature of 450°C (842°F then the
probability is that other more critical components have long since failed.
