The Green Deal: Implications for Data Centre operators and developers

09 Mar 2023
Facilities and Critical Equipment Theatre
The Green Deal is probably the most ambitious and far-reaching EU policy agenda to date. When launching it, the EU’s president called it “Europe’s man on the moon moment”. It is the EU’s programme for transitioning the continent to a sustainable economy, and sets out the region’s overarching sustainability strategy and objectives, identifies priorities and coordinates activity through a complex and interconnected hierarchy of regulations, initiatives and action plans. Many of the legislative instruments being developed under the Green Deal have significant implications for data centre operators who have facilities, or sell services, within the Bloc. This session will outline the main instruments most pertinent to data centres and the implications, or potential implications, for existing data centre operations and for new developments.
