Iron Flag is a global company specializing in turn-key data centre decommissioning projects. IFG and Asset recovery companies utilize large international networks to appropriate used equipment to diverse and uncommon of markets. The term “second life” is being redefined in this current era of manufacturing delays, commodity shortages, and year long lead times of overdue equipment. DC and Power generation equipment manufacturers have started to implement the “factory refurbished” processes. Soaring energy prices, and soon to come climate tax policies have pushed Data Centres to re-evaluate the cost of upgrading to a PUE of 1.0 against the cost of relocating or upgrading to one of the top three cloud giants. These factors combined with a unique recycling methodology allow IFG and asset companies to offset the expense of the entire data centre decommissioning process, and often pay the vacating company for the project. UNFCCC base standards and UN policies are starting to be geared to energy reduction compensation, while carbon offsets focus on additionality and efficiency, other methodologies are being put in place to ensure that countries in the Paris agreement meet their emission reduction requirements by 2030. While additionality is often becoming more speculative, energy consumption reduction can be quantified. Trends in our industry are being defined as baselines for the UN, EU, and EPA standards
