Navigating the challenges to design and install microgrids

08 Mar 2023
Facilities and Critical Equipment Theatre
Microgrids are small, localised networks of power supply and demand that can operate independently of a national grid. Businesses in a range of sectors, from heavy industry through to datacentres, are becoming increasingly interested in the potential that microgrids offer in tackling both the need to minimise rising energy costs and improve energy resilience, as well as integrating more zero carbon renewable power generation. But the design, build and operation of microgrids can be challenging to get right. Kelly Cole, General Manager of Electric Power at Finning, discusses common issues such as design complexity and regulatory compliance, and how businesses can overcome these to benefit from an efficient and resilient microgrid.
