Next Generation Data Centers: How innovation is driving sustainable operations at scale
The rollout of the Metaverse will force even more rapid and power-hungry innovations in IT equipment (server, networking, and storage), now driven by the hyperscale data center operators, as they have become one of the largest consumers of equipment by volume, in effect a sub market driving a new set of requirements for data centers and challenges for DC facility builders to push the envelope. Metaverse buildouts will require large investments in data center facility technology from digital techniques for data center design and build for adaptability with automation covering the entire data center life cycle, to minimizing many sustainability elements including carbon footprint, alternat cooling technologies with heat reuse, and delivering on electrical grid resiliency. To complicate matters, many of these data centers will be edge located, requiring designs to be modular to accommodate both very large and smaller data centers. This talk will discuss hyperscale driven open innovations that can be leveraged by data center design and build professionals to deliver the next generation of data center facilities.
