The digital transformation of Africa is undoubtably well underway. Triggered by the post-pandemic recovery and the critical need to improve digital infrastructure, to facilitate sustainable economic growth. The latest announcements by some of the leading global Data Centre operators, in particular the rise in their level of M&A activity of existing African Data Centre operators, is a clear sign that the time is right. This is no longer a South Africa centric investment, although clearly SA remains the country with the largest DC presence, we’re seeing full-scale growth in Egypt, Kenya, Ethiopia and especially Nigeria. Coastal Countries advantageously positioned to accommodate International sub-sea cable systems are attracting the most investment. These countries with growing GDP, large young populations and huge demand for internet services are fueling demand for Data Centres. Data Centre’s are a critical component in ensuring the economic growth across this massive and beautiful continent that is - Africa
