More visitors, more exhibitors, more business.

More visitors, more exhibitors, more business.

This year’s Data Centre World was bigger and better than ever and showed that the data centre market in the UK is still forging ahead despite the economic uncertainty.

The UK’s largest event for server room and data centre goes from strength to strength.   Launched in 2008 at the Barbican the event has now, sadly, outgrown the venue with a huge increase in exhibitors and visitors.  The organisers are taking it to the National Hall at Olympia on 2-3 March 2011.

Data Centre World 2010 attracted nearly 3000 attendees over the 2 days in February (a 35% increase on the 2009 event) and visitors and exhibitors alike were delighted with the event.

The visitors to the show were impressed by the variety of stands, quality of the speakers and panel sessions, plus the effort that all the exhibitors had put in to make the exhibition a worthwhile exercise.

Shaun Sheppard - MDS Technologies said, "It's my first time to the show and it's much better than I expected. I have brought a new colleague with me as it is a great opportunity for them to get an overview of the industry. There is a good cross section of suppliers exhibiting."

Ken Large of Energyst thought that "Everyone is very approachable. With niche shows you get better quality. It's a dedicated show and supports the sector – larger shows cover too broad an area."

Visitors’ reasons for attending were many and varied and included to find new suppliers, to see new product launches and to network with colleagues.  Nearly two thirds said that their objectives were either exceeded or completely met.

One of the great things about Data Centre World is that it is free to enter for visitors and still provides high quality content at its conference. There were speakers on a wide range of issues, from cabling to PUE. This year also saw the first panel sessions which brought up some lively debate, with issues raised from security, to what temperature to run your data centre at.

Exhibitors were extremely happy too, and more than 40 companies have already signed up for next year’s event, which promises to be bigger than ever.

SGI brought its modular data centre “ICE Cube” to the show and Jason Coari of SGI said “We’ve seen over 300 people walk through [the ICE Cube] in 10 hours.......a good show and I’m sure we’ll be back next year.”
