Attention has shifted back to data centres in a way not seen in over a decade, with more organisations implementing strategic IT initiatives such as data recovery, data centre consolidation, server and storage centralisation, and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
As data centres take centre stage, a major concern is how to ensure that data can be easily and cost-effectively accessed by end-users without compromising security. Jeff Aaron, vice president of marketing at Silver Peak, will discuss how optimising the WAN infrastructure is essential for the success of increasingly popular virtual applications and todays disaster recovery initiatives.
This enables companies to move data across longer distances, place data centres where they make the most business sense, and make significant cost savings by enabling storage environments to be converged with other applications onto a single shared WAN.
What will delegates learn from this session?
While these strategic initiatives can enable organisations to enjoy increased organisational efficiency, cost savings and greater data security, the rewards can easily be lost if application performance hampers end user productivity. By hearing about how to improve WAN efficiency, delegates are able to learn how they can abide by compliance demands and take full advantage of their costly virtual applications, thus providing a robust and rapid return on investment.
Why is this issue of interest to delegates?
Data volumes are continuing to grow and disaster recovery / business continuity plans are becoming more stringent, meaning the underlying network infrastructure is becoming increasingly critical to these initiatives. The emergence of cloud computing and virtualisation is also exacerbating these challenges as limited Wide Area Network (WAN) bandwidth, long distances, and poor network quality are hampering end-user satisfaction.
As these initiatives gain momentum, it is essential that delegates learn how to tackle the challenges they create, in order to enjoy the full benefits.
