Data Centre World VisitorLife after cloud… what’s next for hosts and service providers?

The cloud isn’t cool any more. It’s all grown up: just another part of the establishment, and fast becoming the standard model for IT consumption and delivery. If you’re a service provider or DC operator without a cloud, you’re a bit late to be an early adopter. And if you’re already in the cloud, you’re already seeing commoditization of the cloud services that were once so new and sexy.
So what’s next? When the cloud is just 'the way things are done’, how does this change the stack for service providers and their customers? Where does the value lie as physical resources complete the cycle of commoditization? What implications does this have for your business model? This session will look at life beyond the cloud for service providers and operators, and what vendors like OnApp are doing to help you differentiate as cloud becomes the norm..
Speaker: Ditlev Bredahl
Job title: CEO
Company: OnApp
After a few years in roles for the European Parliament, Ditlev moved into the rapidly-growing Internet sector in the mid-1990s. He quickly developed a reputation as an entrepreneur and a specialist in start-up and turnaround scenarios.
In 1995 he founded a successful web hosting and consulting company that was eventually acquired by Sun in 2003. Between 2003 and 2006, he was instrumental in the turnaround of DTF Travel as its Online Director. He has led UK2Groups hosting companies as MD and CEO since February 2006, and played a key role in the groups transformation into the major player in the hosting industry it is today.
OnApp is set to be his next big success story: a company founded to enable mass-market hosting providers to move into cloud hosting with unprecedented speed, simplicity and affordability. As CEO, Ditlev provides commercial and technical direction for this disruptive and fast-growing business, which expanded from its July 2010 launch to 30+ clients and 40+ people in just eight weeks.
Ditlev has an MBA in International Business from the European Institute for Public Affairs and Lobbying in Brussels, and a degree in Economics from AAU, Denmark. A Danish national and an incurable technophile, he lives in the UK but travels frequently to visit clients and speak at events across the globe.
