This 40-minute paper will discuss the major impact that virtualisation has on the power infrastructure of the data centre and the role which power management software can play in helping to manage this impact. The prioritisation of the power infrastructure will be a major theme and how to manage the priority of IT services in the event of a power problem to avoid outages. The paper will also cover ‘design for demand’, and how it is possible to build the infrastructure of a data centre to meet changing requirements.
This session will appeal to CIOs, IT directors and managers, data centre managers, energy managers, IT consultants and anyone currently using virtualisation within a data centre.
Given the flexibility which virtualisation demands, delegates will be given an insight into what power management elements need to be considered in order to ensure complete uptime.
It is believed that virtualisation will continue to develop rapidly and this paper will raise the awareness of delegates, highlighting power infrastructure issues that they may not have considered previously.
