Speaker: Donna Taylor

Donna Taylor is research director for storage research in Europe. In this role, she provides research, analysis, and insight focused on developments in the storage market ecosystem.

As part of her remit, Taylor provides analysis on how trends in the industry affect market performance and supports vendor planning and strategy as well as providing end-user recommendations. Coverage includes storage systems and infrastructure, tape and hard disk drives, as well as cloud, green IT, and storage virtualization. In addition to her research responsibilities, Taylor also provides custom research and consulting to IDC clients.

Taylor joined the IDC European Storage team with more than five years' experience as a storage analyst and trusted advisor. Prior to joining IDC, she worked in corporate development and strategy at IBM's HDD and Storage Systems Division, where she led deals involving M&A, strategic alliances and partnerships, commercialization of internally-generated technologies, and the due diligence for the sale of the HDD division to Hitachi.

Taylor earned a juris doctor with a concentration in international corporate law, an MBA with a concentration on international management, and a bachelor of science in finance and multinational business operations.

Nathaniel Martinez is a program director in IDC's European System Infrastructure Solutions Group.

In this role, he delivers strategic studies, presentations, and insights to expertly advise industry clients on enterprise server competitive and market dynamics, drivers, risks, and opportunities in EMEA. He researches and reports on European server infrastructure market trends, including, blade servers, server operating systems, workloads, optimised systems, appliances, server virtualisation, desktop virtualisation, system management, automation, datacenter optimisation and cloud computing.

Martinez is also responsible for IDC's European Quarterly Server Tracker and European Quarterly Server Virtualization Tracker, and engages in bespoke consulting projects.Martinez was previously a program manager in IDC's European Software Research Group, covering a wide range of software markets including Web services, content management, enterprise portals, and collaborative applications. He also engaged in custom projects, supporting software vendors in the development of their product and market strategies, including ROI studies and white papers.

Martinez has spoken at many key industry conferences and vendor events, and has been widely quoted in leading industry publications.

Prior to joining IDC in 2000, Martinez worked as a trade and marketing assistant at the Montana World Trade Center (US), advising Montana and regional companies on international expansion strategies. Before that, he worked for Lexmark (France), helping the company develop its EDI network for its European customers and partners. Martinez holds an MBA from the University of Montana (US), and a DESS (BA with honours) in international marketing and trade strategy from the University of Aix-en-Provence (France).
