What others say about Data Centre World

Building a world-beating next generation data centre why the holistic approach can pay dividends

Register free to attend this session

The next phase of virtualisation in the data centre poses numerous challenges for IT Managers; amongst them management, performance, security and cost. Dominic Wordsworth encourages delegates to view these challenges in a wider context and demonstrates how a more holistic approach can pay dividends.

With pressure on IT managers to demonstrate tangible cost-savings for the business, the presentation will highlight a number of specific ways these can be achieved

Who should attend?
The content is designed to be useful for both technical and commercial managers with responsibility for specifying and managing their business' data centre.

What will delegates learn?
The session focuses on the issues faced by IT in moving to the next phase of virtualisation in the data-centre. As more critical applications and services move into this environment, there are a number of challenges around management, performance, security and cost to name a few. Delegates will have these issues highlighted alongside some of the technology that provides the means to solve them. The presentation will encourage the delegates to view the challenges in a wider context rather than the silod approach that is often taken and  demonstrate that a more holistic can and will pay dividends.

Why is the issue of interest to delegates?
As host and desktop virtualisation becomes more mainstream, it has become clear that the major hypervisor vendors cannot deliver the whole stack. As an organisations reliance on virtual environments grow, the service level deliverable have become infinitely more sophisticated. Many IT departments have seen the initial CapEx savings they realised when going through an initial phase of virtualisation chipped away by the ongoing operational cost of the new virtual platform.

When they look to roll out the next phase of virtualised applications, the pressure is on to demonstrate CapEx and OpEx gains back to the business the presentation will highlight a number of ways in which they can achieve that.
